Students will spend roughly 15,000 hours in formal education between kindergarten and high school graduation. At Ocoee Classical Academy, we believe these thousands of hours should be used with eternal purpose: to shape hearts and minds that glorify God in all things, grow into the likeness of Christ, and learn to think Christianly about every area of life.
This vision is brought to life through a covenantal partnership between faithful families, devoted teachers, and a Christ-centered community. Education here is soul-forming. It renews the imago Dei (image of God) in every student, helping them reflect more clearly the wisdom, goodness, and beauty of their Creator. It cultivates wisdom and virtue, and teaches them to love God supremely and love what God loves. Rooted in the historic liberal arts and the timeless Trivium (grammar, logic, rhetoric), it works with the natural grain of how God designed human development. Every subject — mathematics, literature, science, and history — is studied not in isolation, but as part of an integrated whole that points back to its divine Author. Christ is the center of it all.
The Formative High School Years
The high school years represent one of the most critical and formative windows in a young person’s life. Psychologically, this is the stage where students navigate the key developmental tasks of forging a coherent sense of self, purpose, and belief system that will shape their adult lives. Neurologically, the adolescent brain experiences a significant imbalance between the emotionally driven limbic system and the still-maturing prefrontal cortex. This creates heightened sensitivity to social rewards, emotions, and peer feedback — far more intense than in adults. At the same time, synaptic pruning occurs: the brain eliminates unused neural connections while dramatically strengthening those used most frequently, effectively “hard-wiring” the habits, thought patterns, virtues, and skills developed during these years.

At Ocoee Classical Academy, we partner with families to guide students through this strategic season with truth, virtue, and wisdom so that what is “hard-wired” into their hearts and minds is Christ-centered, excellent, and lasting.
A classical Christian education equips us to instill in our high schoolers:
